Climate Crisis & Science
Building knowledge, prevention and resilience
The climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges of our time. It affects safety, infrastructure, ecosystems and the daily lives of every citizen. At the Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, our response goes beyond operational action: it is grounded in scientific knowledge, innovation and the continuous study of the risks that shape our present and our future.
Science is at the core of our strategy. It allows us to anticipate, plan and shield the country against extreme natural phenomena, with solutions based on data, technology and international best practices.
Science as a tool for prevention
Prevention is the cornerstone of Civil Protection. With the support of scientific bodies, universities, research institutes and specialised teams, we are developing:
modern monitoring and early-warning systems,
tools for risk analysis and threat mapping,
technologies that support faster and more accurate decision-making.
These infrastructures are key elements that strengthen the national risk management framework and support the development of innovative monitoring systems.
When science becomes practice
Research is transformed into tangible results:
Aerial assets, drones and surveillance technologies enhance our capacity for timely intervention.
Modern firefighting and prevention equipment supports frontline professionals and local authorities.
Digital tools and applications help citizens stay informed, prepare and actively participate in risk prevention.
All these actions form the “shield of protection” that, through the AIGIS Programme, is being deployed across the country.
Education & fostering a culture of resilience
Science is not only a tool for experts. It is knowledge that must reach every home, every school, every community.
This is why the Ministry invests in:
educational activities and information material,
awareness-raising campaigns,
partnerships with the education community, so that younger generations understand risks and acquire protection skills.
Information and awareness are acts of collective responsibility.
Together we raise the shield of protection
Science guides us. Society participates. The State coordinates.
Under the unified umbrella of the AIGIS Programme, the Ministry, researchers, frontline professionals, local authorities and citizens are jointly shaping a new model for shielding the country against the climate crisis – a model based on knowledge, transparency and cooperation.
In the face of the Climate Crisis… we raise a shield of protection.
For our lives. For tomorrow. For the generations to come.
